<p>It brings to mind, for me, Eric Hoffer’s book <em>The True Believer</em> where he contends that mass movements, of which Christianity is but one example, promote the use of doctrines that elevate faith over reason and propel individual members who embrace the beliefs of the movement to exclude and oppress non believers and others who deny or reject it. At least the Founders rejected the establishment of a religion and I expect and hope that even the Tea Partiers will be unable to change…</p>
