This is a question I have always asked. I don't know. And what about all the Feed the Children ads that show kids from around the world---when I donated to such a fund, I made sure it fed US children. Those other countries have very rich people in them. Let them take care of their own so that we can take care of our own.
Detroit just went belly-up. I am sure there are lots of kids from Detroit who need to be adopted because they are living in group homes.
Thanks chief!! You are so right crest, my money stays here.
I'm going to say something very controversial now. There are lots and lots of poor kids all over America whose families are on welfare.
My proposal is this: If a woman applies for welfare, she has to agree at that time to mandatory implantation of birth control which may be removed as soon as she gets on her feet again.
I think they tried the drug test thing in Florida and it came back that only 2% of the applicants were positive.
Any kind of government assistance should come with contingencies , I think.
Well trust me, up here it would be much higher....
Even my SS comes with contingencies. My school pension as well. Old people don't do drugs other than High BP and cholesterol, and we can't have kids, but if I earn too much money on the side, I forfeit, so why shouldn't public assistance have contingencies like NO BABIES?
Makes sense. Even young people I know who adopted all went to foreign countries to do so. To make it even, foreigners should come here and adopt our foundlings, but I don't think that happens. Sad for our children here.
My question is why the conservatives who want to force a woman to have a child she doesn't want for instance when it was conceived by rape or incest aren't signing up to adopt those children? If they don't want the responsibility of raising the child I think they should butt out.
From what I understand about adoption and people who adopt, this country has some strict rules that some couples can't meet as far as age or income. I know a few people who have adopted from Russia and China, the friend who adopted from China was able to adopt babies which is what she wanted. The couple who adopted from Russia weren't planning on adopting at all, she was there on a trip and visited the orphanage where she saw a little boy she bonded with..she applied went back a year later to bring him home and a year after that found out he had two natural sisters in that orphanage so she adopted them also.
I think most children available for adoption in the US are older and the kids may or may not be victims of a drug/alcohol mother, some people are afraid of the brain damage and medical problems along with the emotional problems that come with that. It's sad really. I never hear of orphanages here, I think most kids go to foster homes.
