TBD on Ning

Suggestions anyone?

Right now take-out Chinese sounds good. Except my favorite place doesn't deliver and I don't want to go out. In the heat. And the rain. And the Tornado warning.

Do you like Chinese food?

Cool.  I live near the mall.  I could meet you.

Pink grits with a fork.

Eggs over easy in pecan oil.

Thai ped, picked up at the local take out joint earlier today.

No lunch today because of the huge breakfast omelette I got at the new yuppie place.

I'll be digging into the Thai Ped soon...hunger pangs are starting to be noticed.  Ye-UM!

Ham and bean (15 different kinds of beans) soup and corn bread.

I had no idea 15 kinds of beans existed!!!!

Name 'em for me, please.

I threw the bag away bob, so I'm not sure. And I lied cause I pick out the large lima beans,(I can handle the baby ones, just don't like the big ones) so it's only 14 in my soup. They come in a bag at most grocery stores. I usually use Goya Brand which is actually a 16 bean mixture, but I didn't find it at the store so I settled for the 15 bean mix.

Hmmm, I just looked up the Goya Brand to see the different kind of beans they use. It's called 16 Beans, but looks like there are actually 18 ingredients. But the pearl barley isn't a bean, and neither are the 2 different split peas.

  • Northern
  • Pinto
  • Large Lima
  • Blackeye
  • Garbanzo
  • Baby Lima
  • Green Split Pea
  • Kidney
  • Cranberry Bean
  • Small White
  • Pink Bean
  • Small Red
  • Yellow split pea
  • Lentils
  • Navy
  • White Kidney
  • Pearl Barley
  • Black Bean

That looks like a good base for a  soup, Tee!

Right Stir, add a little tomato juice, onion and some beef and it would make a great soup.

I simmer a ham bone (with lots of meat still on it) for 4 or 5 hours. Pick the bones, gristle, and fatty junk out, add beans and chopped onions. My wife likes hers with a squirt of ketchup, and I like mine over corn bread with a little red wine vinegar.

Yep, I'll go for the pork variety (ham or any other pork available).

And I forgot... I like some chopped raw onion on top too.
