that is the same kind of question as Why did the chicken cross the road? It has many answers but I think the real answer is "to show the possum that it could be done"

Evidently, from a comment in the YT page, it was to assure that the drive wheels stayed straight upon landing during the tests. I had the impression that it was suspenders and belt.
