I do go to church when I have the oppertunity. However, I must admit that I go to converse with people who think like me. I'm a Unitarian Universalist. Google it.

I was feeling a bit pissy when I first posted my reply. I've had some time to mull this question.
I normally stay away from questions about religion. Mostly I think that there are people lurking and waiting in the wings ready to pounce on some one that differs from their view.
At my age now I feel confident...I have no reason to bow to anyone or be made to feel less valuable because of my opinion or heartfelt beliefs.
I do attend church. I have been attending a liberal church for over 40yrs. In this city of "churches" any church out of the norm has always been held to scrutiny. But this church embraces all...welcomes all.
"Fountain Street Church" is a magnificent building...so is the congregation.
But my other church is greater. It is the earth and sky. The dirt, the wind. The water, the waves. The birth, the death of all that have had the privilege of existing.
Each day I awake I look up to the sky. I see the sun, I hear the birds. I breathe...it's a good day and I am thankful. amen BAF, Ray, and Aggie, you have…tag:teebeedee.ning.com,2010-11-09:1991841:Comment:10714152010-11-09T01:58:26.434ZGoldilocks46http://teebeedee.ning.com/profile/Goldilocks46
BAF, Ray, and Aggie, you have reminded me of a wedding ceremony George and I went to several years ago. The ceremony was held at an overlook in the forest, the view was of a river valley. It was beautiful and peaceful, and another good place to pray.

I understand your feeling of being lost in the crowd. I went to a larger well know church and know many people who love it there. I was not at home there. There was the feeling of being walled in by both the buildings and the people.
I feel welcomed and cared about at the small church I attend.

The small church I went to grew to attendance of 200 or more, and kept growing. I know this is a good thing, but it wasn't good for me. I felt lost in the crowd and just didn't belong there anymore. I went less frequently over a period of a few years, then stopped going there completely.
I do still pray, wherever I am.
