Besides being a consumer and paying taxes, have you gone above and beyond to help your community during this crisis?

I donated a CLEP study guide to our local library and some classic children's books that wound up in the permanent collection. The VFW was having a hard time raising enough money to send a few kids to college and I'm hoping that the CLEP study guide has helped fill the gap somewhat.

I made a decision after Roy passed away that I no longer wanted to drive and traded the car to the cab co for rides and payments. The owner of the cab co is a single mom working 3 jobs. They know the area really well and fill me in on whatever I need to know. Plus I don't have repair bills, insurance payments , snow plowing fees, worry over gas prices and I know that the community which only has one cab co and not enough jobs has a reliable vehicle. Hey , you never know making sure that the community has a decent cab service might have saved a few lives to boot.

A huge cache of secret US military files today provides a devastating portrait of the failing war in Afghanistan, revealing how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents, Taliban attacks have soared and Nato commanders fear neighbouring Pakistan and Iran are fuelling the insurgency.

The disclosures come from more than 90,000 records of incidents and intelligence reports about the conflict obtained by the whistleblowers' website Wikileaks in one of the biggest leaks in US military history. The files, which were made available to the Guardian, the New York Times and the German weekly Der Spiegel, give a blow-by-blow account of the fighting over the last six years, which has so far cost the lives of more than 320 British and more than 1,000 US troops....
What do you think? Did this guy do us a public service by telling the truth? God knows there is no news on the subject. Isn't it time Americans knew what the truth actually was?
Or should this man be couture marshaled and possibly executed as a traitor to this country?
I live in Central NJ. Many people have lost their jobs here. The pharmaceutical companies who have their homebases here, have been particularly hard on the employment lines. My friend, Pete, who is a computer genious has just been evicted from his apartment (of 12 years), because he couldnt pay the rent (he is our age.)

Last summer was wet and cold and the fruit did not ripen. This year it is sunny and very hot. The plums are just coming in and they are wildly sweet. The berries came in early and people seem to be getting their fall allergies early.

Thats the state of my state. (it's ok to have wildly different opinions, even if you live next door to one another.) What is the State of Your State? MUSINGS WHILE ON THE ROADtag:teebeedee.ning.com,2010-06-17:1991841:Topic:9902542010-06-17T04:13:49.568ZCWO3ROBBIEhttp://teebeedee.ning.com/profile/CWO3ROBBIE

I travel around a lot. I drive a 32 ft Class A RV towing a jeep Liberty. Since i don't have a navigator, I depend on a GPS device. It has a female voice that tells me where to go. Since I've been married twice and had a few girl friends, I have been told where to go many times. But, with the GPS lady I don't have to do what she says.

Since I've been married twice and had a few girl friends, I have been told where to go many times. But, with the GPS lady I don't have to do what she says.

However, since I do need to hear what she says (I call her Nellie) I have found that I can't have the radio on or listen to books on CD. This means that I often go for long periods with no distactions. So, I think.

Today while driving through Alabama on US Highway 80 instead of the Interstate. I observed that there was a lot of road construction.

There was also a number of signs proclaiming that this roadwork was being funded by the Federal Government as part of the "Put Our Country Back to Work Program". that is a paraphrase but means the same as what the signs said.

I thought "wait a moment, both the President and the current President have said that this country is in trouble because we are addicted to oil".

What uses the most oil?

The cars and trucks on the highways.

The trucks probably consume more than the cars, but they are moving the stuff we need around the country.

I have read that the cost of moving goods by rail is a very small fraction of the cost of moving goods by truck.

I think most of the difference in cost is the difference in amount of fuel required to move goods.

So, If we want to get over our addiction to Oil and also put people to work, why isn't the Government funding the building of railroads?

I had many more thoughts about this subject, but I would like to hear what the rest of you think.
Is Obama trying to bankrupt America?tag:teebeedee.ning.com,2010-03-03:1991841:Topic:8464352010-03-03T12:33:16.802ZNancy Morganhttp://teebeedee.ning.com/profile/NancyMorgan
Inquiring minds want to know: Is Obama trying to bankrupt America? One short year ago, asking this this question would have guaranteed my inclusion among the ranks of right-wing nuts and/or conspiracy theorists. Today, it is a serious question being asked by Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh and many other leading conservatives. Here's why.
Here's why.

In the summer of 2008, as John McCain and Barack Obama were campaigning for president, a series of economic events (started by Sen. Schumer) resulted in shifting the focus of the presidential campaign off the Iraq war, and on to the economy. These events ultimately resulted in Barack Obama's election as President.

June 26, 2008: Democrat Chuck Schumer leaked a memo questioning the solvency of IndyMac bank. This memo precipitated a run on IndyMac which led to its failure. Federal regulators pointedly cited U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., in explaining the bank's failure. "The immediate cause of the closing was a deposit run that began and continued after the public release of a June 26 letter to the OTS and the FDIC from Senator Charles Schumer of New York."

This event, coupled with the Lehman Brothers collapse in September, marked the beginning of the current economic meltdown and provided the ammunition for massive government intervention in the private market.

July 12, 2008: The federal government takes control of the $32 billion IndyMac Bank. *

Sept. 6, 2008: Fannie Mae begins its downward spiral, which will end with a crash in November. This crash was avoidable, as the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were identified in June of 2006, when 15 Republicans on the Senate Banking Committee introduced legislation to address the problem. Democrats, led by Barney Frank, killed the reform efforts.

Sept. 15, 2008: Obama and McCain are virtually tied in their race for the presidency. Out of no-where, in the space of less than 2 hours, the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous drawdown of money market accounts in the U.S. to the tune of $550 billion. Rep. Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania said that if authorities had not closed the banks, $5.5 trillion would have been withdrawn from US banks, which would have caused the collapse of the US within 24 hours.

This seminal event marked the ascendancy of Obama's candidacy, and eventually resulted in his election as president.

Its no secret that Obama is a member of the far left. And he has staffed his administration with fellow ideologues. Leftists, like former Green Czar Van Jones, who states he is an "advocate for a socialist utopia." Who believes that capitalism is "oppression and exploitation."

People like Ron Blume, who was appointed to reinvigorate the manufacturing base, who states, "We know the free market is nonsense."

Any economist can tell you that raising taxes, increasing debt, printing money and unbridled spending is not the way to handle a recession. So either Obama is ignorant of this, or he willfully chooses to ignore the lessons of history. Or he is adopting a strategy outlined by Cloward-Pivens: Overwhelm the system until it fails, and then replace it.

Based on Obama's actions to date, reasonable people must allow for the possibility that the change Obama promised may include destroying the free market economic system in order to replace it with an economy regulated by government entities.

Spending America into bankruptcy might just be our president's way of leveling the global playing field. By bringing Americas to its knees. Based on Obama's actions, and the actions of his appointees, its time to seriously consider if destroying our economy is Obama's goal.
